Personal Reaction:
Caillou is a television series based on books by Canadian author, Christine L'Heureux. The main character Caillou is a four year old boy who lives with his mother, father and younger sister. Each episode centers around a theme and includes several short segments relating to that theme. This show is a big hit with young children 2 to 4 years old, who relate closely to Caillou's own life. The show discusses issues such as family, overcoming fears, getting along with others and growing up.

The show does not have a heavy focus on school readiness or early learning, but instead features realistic situations that help children work out feelings and real-life problems in a positive and comforting way.
