Babybug Magazine

Babybug Magazine http://www.cricketmag.com/BBB-BABYBUG-Magazine-for-Babies-6mo-3yrs

Audience: parents, babies and toddlers

Annotation:
A educational and enriching magazine for very young children and their parents.

Personal Reaction:Babybug Magazine is an attractive, colorful periodical for very young children and parents. I like to think of Babybug as the board book equivalent of a periodical- it’s printed on extra heavy pages with rounded corners, it’s smaller than a typical magazine, short in length, and filled with bright pictures and large print. Babybug is also advertising free, so it feels more like a book than a magazine. Each issue contains a short story, several rhymes and poems, and a fingerplay. Babybug is also accompanied by a website that teaches parents how to support early literacy. This is a great resource for parents and childcare providers who seek to provide print-rich environments for their children or supplement their at-home libraries. Teachers and librarians would also make good use of the stories and fingerplays within the magazine.
Strengths: gives extra support to parents and childcare providers in creating print-rich environments

Weaknesses: basically a supplementary resource for parents who likely already engage in early literacy practices with their young
children
